Mr. Chwedyk is a licensed architect and chief code consultant of the licensed architectural subsidiary of Burnham that he assisted in founding in 2001. He is also an Adjunct at Harper College where he has taught a course on building codes since 1998. With over 40 years of experience in the profession, Mr. Chwedyk has concentrated on the technical requirements of building design and has managed the production of code-compliant construction documents for a wide variety of project types. Over the past two decades he has performed numerous code compliance plan reviews for the City of Chicago and other municipalities. He also currently serves on the BOMA/Chicago Codes Committee where he was instrumental in advocating for the modernization of the Chicago Building Code. He is currently a member of the Long-Term Code Development Process Committee through the International Code Council (ICC) and on the International Fire Code Action Committee (FCAC). Mr. Chwedyk’s other professional affiliations include the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as Secretary of the AIA Chicago Foundation Board and was the 2018 chair the National AIA Codes and Standards Committee.
